Before the Fire Consumes Us

This is a map of wildfires in California when this was posted. The sky was amber all day from the smoke in the atmosphere, even though we weren’t too close to any of the blazes. Several people were trapped by a resort lake and almost had to flee to the water to escape their inferno before the helicopters swooped in like Tolkien’s eagles at the last minute.
