A Message for the Lonely This Christmas
Our Aidan warming up by a fire with the pup Bindi, on a cold night on our dirt, the Nameless Canyon Grove, last Christmas.
“Look around: I am right here with you, and will be every day, until the end of days.”
Matthew 28:20 (Taosurfers Translation)
[I wrote this to myself last winter. If you are feeling lonely right now, I want to share this with you, my sisters or brothers, even if I have never met you.]
You are not alone. It can feel lonely, but you are not. You are surrounded by unconditional love. You have the ability to pour out unconditional love for others. Love has no limits. The more you love, the more love grows and spreads and is returned.
We lose our way, but there is always a way back. It’s okay to acknowledge that you aren’t feeling loved at a particular time, or that you experience sadness. Embrace it. Perhaps try to understand it so that you can let it go. By letting it go, it will not fester and cling to you, bringing you down into the depths and clouding your way. It will no longer block your path to life, love and peace. Hold strong. Have courage to embrace unconditional love for all. Let go of all fear.
Fear holds you back. Fear enslaves, whether it’s fear of losing comforts (house, food, cars, etc.) or fear of losing loved ones. If you fear in this way it will impact your behavior and you might drive away the very thing you fear losing. People do not run from unconditional love—they just don’t—its too precious, true, and beautiful. They run from judgment or anything that incites their fears.
They may, from their own fear, run for a time. But deep down, they know they have a home in unconditional love, whenever they are ready. When you approach things from unconditional love, you are only capable of being true. Your thoughts, words, and actions come from a sincere place. There is no need to lie or cover up things you say, do or even think. This is pure freedom. Freedom to live truly. Freedom to truly live. You don’t have to be a slave to the past or plan for the future. You have the freedom to be and act exactly as is right for this moment.
When fear creeps in, don’t panic. Just feel it and listen. What is causing the fear? Can you let it go? If not, just acknowledge it and let it sit. Perhaps the next time it comes back, you can search it again. Maybe one day will be the right day to let it go. Have compassion on your fear. Send it mercy. Don’t let anger or frustration take over. Love heals all things and ultimately everything will be okay, because the path to freedom is here now. It is with you, in you, and will wait for you, because it never left. Just flip the switch or allow it to be flipped for you. Open your eyes. The uncreated light is on and always will be.
Peace upon peace.
