John Denver (Poem)

When your song came on
I was altered before
the flat screen family altar.
That night, I realized why
I never owned your albums.
The feeling I get when you sing
is the same feeling I get
catching someone in the nude.
Or being discovered in like manner.
Both of us
are too sincerely bare,
So I avert my gaze.
Otherwise, I’d be your biggest fan.
You see, I’m naked but ashamed,
John Denver.
